Arches Galore: An Array of Arch Ideas, Both the Different and the Traditional!

Arches seem to be the go-to these days for making your outdoor ceremony (and indoor!) feel more like the “traditional  altar” found in church ceremonies. Here is quite the compilation of wedding arch ideas, made from all sorts of mediums and materials, to give you ideas for what you want to do for your big day! Some are quirky, some are simple, some are over the top, and some of these examples have been used right here in Odessa at Berry Acres! Thanks to all the wedding boards on Pinterest for letting me raid your beautiful arch photos!

Let’s start out with some rustic lovelies!

Here are two examples made from trees–one more of a mountain wedding from Birch/Aspen tree branches, and the other is more beachy with the gorgeous driftwood

Rustic barn beams can be an especially beautiful way to bring wood elements into your ceremony arch–I did this for my own wedding (photo on the right! :D)

Grapevines are another natural looking medium

And look here! Grapevine Pomanders :)

Doors and windows are another great way to designate the end of your aisle, while not having to take the traditional “arching above your head” lookdoors3doorsdoors2

And here they used just the door frame–it looks fantastic!

Just the frame!

This old dresser is an especially unusual yet wonderfully rustic chic idea!

Your arch doesn’t have to be this structural either–check out these soft arches made from fabric

Don’t be afraid of those bold colored fabrics either!

These arches are a bit more abstract and still give a very natural feel

A more heavy-duty arch can be made from wrought iron or even barbed wire!

Now for the truly different arches!!

Meant to be Groomed

Does your groom help keep you calm?

Now we know how hard it is sometimes to get the men involved in the wedding planning process–and for those of you where this isn’t a problem, woohoo for you!! Your man will already have all of these down then. But for the rest of us with “planning-reluctant” fiances, here’s a list from Perfect Wedding Guide to show him his “Must Dos.” You can always try a “Please sweetheart I just want us to start off life working together” if need be ;P Here are 10 Groom-worthy tasks he should have a hand in:

1. Choosing his attendants

2. Making the registry–Scan Scan! (is there an actual sound that magic tool makes???)

3. Picking out his tux

4. Working out the legalities–aka go get the marriage license!

5. Setting up the rehearsal dinner

6. Buying gifts for the groomsmen

7. Planning the honeymoon

8. Dealing with all the vendor tips–your girl has enough to worry about!

9. Thanking everyone at the rehearsal and/or reception–and always remember to thank your beautiful new wife!

10. STAYING CALM to let her keep on wedding planning stress free

And ladies, if him taking all this on solo seems to be too much, do these things together to tackle some tasks AND have some quality time spent all at the same time! This way your wedding day will be a day you BOTH are proud to have helped make happen! For the full article, see Smart Start with Susan Southerland: 10 Expectations for Modern Grooms

Are there any other fun ways to get your men involved? Any task that should be added to the Groom’s List?? :D Comment!

Our 1st Off-Beat Wedding: Zombie Style! 6-27-14

First off, congratulations to our newlyweds Gena and Clayton! Second of all: ZOMBIES nom nom nom! That’s right, not only did we manage to host a beautiful, elegant wedding, but then as the party got started, in came some Zombie madness! After the couple’s first dance, the entire staff changed into ripped clothes and zombie face paint. The room itself even changed, with zombie-themed tables, red colored up-lighting and dance floor, and flame machines on the bar! Can you believe the surprise of her guests?? Even more so, can you believe the surprise of her GROOM?!?! He had NO IDEA she was planning all of this! And lets have a shout out to all of the Berry Acres staff for willingly becoming the undead for a night :) Check out our awesome zombie flip below:
