Trends We Are Seeing Here in the Midwest

It’s crazy to think that we are halfway through with year 2024! Here are some of the wedding trends we are seeing here at our Missouri wedding and event venue.

1. Backdrops and photo ops have become a big thing happening at our weddings here at Berry Acres. Several have used our extra arches that allow our brides to use-- with the options being a rustic wood option or a clean white arch or our big wooden cross. Some have brought in lights and florals and fabric to add on to make it fit their wedding aesthetic. If you are up for a little DIY project, we have seen others have made their own backdrops with simply foam boards and some paint. These create a fun thing for your guests to do during the reception and they get to have a picture for the socials and memories later!

2. Earlier ceremony times-- many couples are opting for an afternoon or early evening ceremony. This allows for the night to end sooner but we do have the option to add on extra hours to your event time. We recommend extending time if you and your crew are big dancers or if you are doing portraits after the ceremony which takes up time from mingling with your guests.

Some brides have even opted for brunch instead of dinner. Mostly because that was the kind of food they preferred but also because it allowed them to be cleaned up and out of the venue right before dinner. It is good to consider what works best with your crowd and how much you like to party and dance.

3. Allowing for portrait time before the ceremony. This does mean that you will do a first look with your partner towards the beginning of the day. This puts less pressure on your photographer and allows the photographer to capture more photos of you and your new spouse when that wedding gallery is delivered. It gives you and your significant other time to hug and get a moment together before all the events of the day begin.

4. Weekday weddings have boomed this year. It has become the budget friendly option for those who just love the venue space but it isn’t quite in the budget. Consider a Thursday or Friday celebration. Or you could be the “cool” one in your friend group that decided to get married on a Monday! Just make sure wedding party is able to take off work!

5. Some of the color schemes we are continuing to see are the different shades of green trend we saw last year.  Warm-toned yet bright florals with some pink, oranges and tan added in have also made a statement. It not only draws attention because of how vivid the colors are but it makes the bride’s white dress pop.

A trend I am thinking we will continue to see for 2024 will be more garden themes and vintage styles. “Cottage core” is the theme I picked for our most recent Berry Acres open house and styled shoot. Check out our last blog to hear about that day!

Side Note: I am loving how I was able to use photos from most of our preferred photographers to work with in this blog post! We LOVE their work!
